How to Replace a Watch Battery

2.1Kviews

Replacing a watch battery is a simple task. While most watches does not require very frequent replacement but when the time comes you need to deal with it. If a quartz watch is stopped it is most likely the battery is dead.

1- You need proper caseback opening tool as explain in How to Open a Caseback tutorial. Snap-on caseback is very common on battery powered “fashion” watches.

Pry it open and you will see the heart of your watch.

This big circle thing is the battery. “377” show the type of your battery so while buying a new one search for the correct type. As you can see in the image two metal hooks hold the battery in place. You need the observe with your nail or another knife like tool which hook is the springy one. You can push this part back from battery and voila! your batter will be pushed out by the bottom teeth.

While installing new battery put the battery in first to non springy side and simply press it in. Another important part is make sure the groove on the case back is placed on the stem. Stem is the long screw goes out left of your movement as you see in the image above.

Now press the case back in. It may take quite a force to snap caseback in, so I use my both thumbs back to back the press firmly. I did not have any snap-on I couldn’t install with hand so If you can’t do it ask a stronger person to help 🙂

Congratulations you successfully replaced the battery and your watch is alive again.
